A Life Apart

Taking life's partners for granted,
Family, lover or friend
Unmindful that all relationships will ultimately end.

Looking back with melancholy,
Fond memories of a life together.
Assumptions that our happiness would always last forever.

Now a tortured mind: wondering where you are,
Wondering what you do.
Do you ever dwell upon the past and wonder of me too?

Freeing the tears of solitude and grief
Many lonely hours spent crying
Staring in the mirror: a streaked face, rivers of tears, never drying.

Sombre red eyes contemplate:
Will this pain ever go away? Will these wounds ever heal?
Wishing to be emotionless; never have to feel.
