The Spectator

Away from it all
in a world of her own,
a woman swims laps
in a pool.

From the deck
she hears 'Feck!
its the girl of my dreams! .
I know it!
and I'm nobody's fool.

He stripped off his clothes,
was about to jump in,
NOt caring too much
for the rules.

'It's alright', he said.
'I know this redhead.
Same town,
just different schools.

'I found you at last! '
You're the girl from my past,
with that giggle,
and a fondness for water.

I've searched everywhere
for a lass with red hair
and I found one,
but she's not the coppers daughter.

And the life I have had
you just wouldn't believe,
adventures galore
in the sun.

But the swimmer in me
always hankered, you see,
for just one more splash
with this one.
