Troost Avenue Poems

Mastodon found froze in ice
What world must you have seen
When you and others of your kind
Roamed freely across this land
...

In my garden is a trellis
on which once grow a Moonflower,
a curious vine who’s blossoms
hide from sunlight and
...

In the evening’s fading light
When brightest stars are first seen
I often watch in sheer delight
As dimmer stars come into sight

Froze In Ice

Mastodon found froze in ice
What world must you have seen
When you and others of your kind
Roamed freely across this land

I too am froze in ice
Bound as tightly as you have been
In a world and time long past
But, unlike you, only in my mind

What is it that we humans do
When sad memories overwhelm
We bury them deep down inside
And pretend that they are gone

But those thoughts are cold, cold things
That only crystalize and grow
Till one day we realize
All our dreams are froze in ice
