Virginia Drungil Poems

suddenly words leave me
I am standing in the middle of myself
facing the silence
...

here we are you and I
living parallel lives
unsuspecting and unassuming
...

Doomed as we are to reap rewards or punishments
retreat, repeat the destiny, or even try rewrite it
on an empty page
what's made and set in stone or rigid mind
...

the feast has ended
at the communal table
the communion was being dispensed
you weren't there
...

attraction
infatuation
mixed messages
...

suddenly sound of words awaken us
from self-induced existential coma
back into the mean streets of the Universe
back into madness that is being alive
...

let us gather our things
and fleeting ephemeral thoughts
make inventory of life
in all it's irregular shapes and forms
...

I. Of the lost time
Unforgettable moments of happiness:

Everything was so bright, blinding and
brilliant; sometimes the beauty was
...

time run out on us
sun is dying by the horizon
trees are weeping -
naked and bare
...

Walmart in the middle of nowhere
lost by the side of the
once great American highway
between the junkyards and greasy joints
...

11.

They come from nowhere -
hungry people
lost to themselves
open to anything
...

suddenly sound of words awaken us
from self-induced existential coma
back into the mean streets of the Universe
back into madness that is being alive
...

sharp needle in your vein
here you are
dull desensitized
devoid of pain
...

I come here looking for you
where all the crooked irregular side streets
lead to the Piazza
open space amidst the crowded old houses
...

Silence

suddenly words leave me
I am standing in the middle of myself
facing the silence

facing four open corners
of the whole wide world
of the known universe
at the crossroads
I am lost

all that I known before
is not that relevant
like yesterday's news
suddenly I am tabula rasa

a stranger staring back at me
in the mist of the mirror
we've met before I am sure
I am not you - as I once was

do I owe you something
a confession, an explanation
a few kind words of concern perhaps

nothing is certain everything is relative
you are facing a line-up
truth of the moment wisdom of self

redeem your words while entering me
I am you as you are
I am silence
