William Porter

William Porter Poems

We will defy the darkness
bells and whistles and hooves
Teardrops cut the landscape
Hanging down from tilted grooves
...

You strike such a contrived Victorian pose
(And it's the most irritating pose I know)
Your prose-!
No offense, makes me ill!

The Best Poem Of William Porter

Aristotle To Dr. Pepper

We will defy the darkness
bells and whistles and hooves
Teardrops cut the landscape
Hanging down from tilted grooves

Driving suburban streets
Of the new Las Vegas strip

We will defy the darkness!

Not now, my friend. Not today
Not tonight.
the lights will not go down
the moon is not enough
I will not go down
without a fight
Beneath the power lines

Grass softens, and we
push off, and turn off
and flip off the Church
We cannot be foiled in the day

It creeps, we spark
We love speed
teardrops, hands, roses.
Star preserver, life giver
We defy you.
