'Real' Smile Poem by Spriha Roy

'Real' Smile

It's been a while,
She has had a real smile.
All her life, she was the one to sacrifice,
She did so in hope that it would suffice.

Always smiling,
Is more than tiring.
For she has seen,
Something, which is not meant for any human being.

She has been travelling,
For something worth living.
Every scar and tear is visible,
Yet people act as if she is invisible.

Holding on to a string,
Enduring all the insults they bring.
They say she is weak,
Even though it was them, who made her meek.

She tries to be strong,
But the help goes by, like a short song.
When tired, she sings for help,
Only to be hit by reality in a yelp.

She has survived so long,
Trying to forget everything and move on.
It was never pleasant,
To welcome such an end.
