The Slave's Feeling

“I was a free man until the day I died
I was loved until the day I felt shy
I was enjoying, living peacefully happily merrily
With my family
But then one day my life became a lie.
I was sold, sold to the hands of a beast
He would slash me, beat me and would never stop
And then I was there standing in front of the field cutting sugarcane
Just how my master was cutting me
Just how my life was cutting me
I used to cut sugar
But my life was bitter
I had to cut it, cut it and cut it
Because I was dead, I was a dead slave
Just like the stagnant water, I was dead in the darkness
But I was in hope that someone would come to take me away
But it never happened
I just remained standing in front of the huge field
Cutting sugarcane
That was my life, but today I am no more that
I am someone else
Or I think I am someone else
I am enjoying happily merrily
Again with my family

But I don’t know if I am a free man
I am saying it, I am telling you this
But in the mean time I am cutting again
Cutting the sugarcane again in my dreams

It is making me run, run away from reality
Run away from this beautiful world
Again into the field
And the sweet cane is telling me
My life is bitter, my life is dead
Will I live again or will I still stay a slave?
I was a free man until the day I died
I was loved until the day I felt shy.”
