Palpitations of the heart, keep breathing,
And beneath the dark shadows, he cannot,
In through the door, teeth clenched, and steps heaving,

The devil commits deeds of mindless thoughts,
Watching clocks spin West-ward as hours do pass,
These splinters of sights which I had not sought,

Earlier that night, we'd strolled in the grass,
Now all that's left are footprints and spatter,
It all happened so slow but so fast,

After the deed, he escaped on the ladder,
Trying not to scream, I choked on the urge,
From what I'd witnessed, my thoughts were scattered,

I saw a sudden hollowness emerge,
And just before he fell, before vital fluid poured,
I watched as his soul struggled on the verge,

This act was one of a demon, clearly bored,
He plunged the dagger, simply for the thrill,
And then came the villain we had ignored,

He staggered in circles, his murmurs, shrill,
We walking in quick paces, avoiding him,
He rocked in the corner, fighting his will,

He had a demeanor which was quite grim,
We walked down that path, as we always did,
This is the story of how I lost him.
