Little leaf on the big old tree,
You see more than we could wish to see
Are so much less than a human can ever be.
Still you are tender, still you stay fresh.
Flying in the wind without the stress.

Little leaf on the once big old tree,
You have left your home and now you are free.
From the cold winds of the south you fly, above me.
Earth will soon embrace you and hold you deep.
Then my love, you finally get to sleep.

Little leaf on the cold hard ground.
We will miss you, and your whispering sound.
Soon you'll grow strong, and birds will sing your song.
Don't let the winter stop your gain,
And we will see you at spring time once again
