Luscious, rolling hills of green with looming fruit trees contain the brittle hopes and dreams of the future for the youth who plant their roots here in the meadow of their summer.

Invincible teenagers explore their opportunities with confidence; the liquid gold rays of the laughing sun penetrate through any fear of completely letting go of morals and values. It is the time of their lives, and they go about with a courageous, dauntless manner, sure of the world and their being.

my head is pounding and throbbing,
my eyes swollen shut.
I lay motionless, the shock still seeping
...

On luscious, rolling hills of green,
Fruit trees linger and loom just after spring
The young plant their roots in the soil of opportunities
Brittle hopes and dreams are left to grow
...

Up on stage, the world changes into an oasis of light and beauty
where seas of people reflect a glorious shower of laughter and sniffles

I float above the crowd when an elder’s eyes crinkle with laughter
