Arthur Bernstein Poems

Who is this, so tall and slender
Like a graceful maiden fair,
By the roadside in the sunshine
With her locks of yellow hair?
...

The valiant men defended their land,
Facing the enemy with weapons in hand.
The invaders outnumbered them ten thousand to one...
And yet, these brave men would never run.
...

On the grass of the cliff,
At the edge of the steep,
God planted a garden...
A garden of sleep.

The rain from the sky was dripping.
The clouds were gray and low.
And dim was the dear old parlor
In the dying embers glow.

The Best Poem Of Arthur Bernstein

Black-Eyed Susan

Who is this, so tall and slender
Like a graceful maiden fair,
By the roadside in the sunshine
With her locks of yellow hair?
See you how she leans and listens
To the west wind wand'ring by
As the sun god calls and woos her
Stands the bashful maiden shy?
Must I tell you in her splendor
Her quaint old-fashioned name?
Would you know her when you meet her
With her tawny yellow mane?
