Aumreetam Dinabandhu Poems

In the world of sycophants
Teethes glitter, lips murmur
Emotions fake, spines shake
Hands are tied with pretentious smile
...

It was not difficult to foresee my fate
that the history might repeat for my deed.
The veins of my body shivered, eyes paled
bone marrows shriveled and feet trembled
...

A precious umbrella my friend!
Our human body,
intricately woven, instinctively
our parents had gifted
...

Breaking silence of the void,
when it acquired a tiny empire;
everything was strange,
and everyone was stranger.
...

An afternoon, a hot humid summer,
after a desperate attempt to escape
from the roaring ca(r) ts
of this dense concrete forest
...

I adore
at this juncture of fruition
to my school teacher
who shaped my life subconsciously.

In The World Of Sycophants

In the world of sycophants
Teethes glitter, lips murmur
Emotions fake, spines shake
Hands are tied with pretentious smile
Whose golden eggs hatched by spurious chickens,
Their subterfuge is hard to touch or heal!

In the world of sycophants
Rich turn thick skinned rhinos
Middle class: toxic stinger scorpions
Workings class: urticating caterpillars
Nether's half-closed eyes hardly blink
Colleagues are chameleons for a peg of drink!

In the world of sycophants
Minorities shy, Majorities defy
Democrats oppose, Republicans depose
Military roars but the largest democracy snores
Potatoes slap Tomatoes, Tomatoes slap Potatoes
And the democracy turns into rotten vegetable silos!

In the world of sycophants
Potato: the self-proclaimed secularist
Dumped after the paupers become obese!
Tomato, the authoritarian- too quick to be rotten
Seasonal rains fade their red ripened skins
Only folksy talks and freebies and finally, mediocre wins!

In the world of sycophants
Water goes scarce, air soars high
Trees are felled, soils degrade,
Nerves are wrecked, bloods polluted
Idlers fly but weaklings die
Innocents feel frail and asphyxiated! !
