Avikshit Pratap Poems

Wandering In the rain soaked path,
I search for footsteps in the wet sand
that were never there..
The puddles of rain that once existed but are now dry,
...

There is a strange calmness in the dark,
I don't feel peace.
I feel nothing.
Groping for a path in this eerie nothingness,

Puddles

Wandering In the rain soaked path,
I search for footsteps in the wet sand
that were never there..
The puddles of rain that once existed but are now dry,
The rainwater has a tinge of red-brown,
So many iota of what we call dirt,
Swirling, Creating a painting no human ever can,
Someway, Somehow, I want to imbibe the dirty rain water,
Inside me, all of it,
I know I can’t handle this much water,
My body has its limits,
But, I don’t want to waste even a drop of it,
It is precious for me,
So precious...
All because of the memory of someone who loves rain,
All because of the scent of a girl dancing in the rain.
I try to absorb every damn drop.
My body resists,
It can’t hold so much of rainwater,
The rainwater of longing,
From the trampled puddle of my memories,
starts to flow,
from within, through my eyes.

I wander around, eyes moist.
Oh, it’s sunny outside.
I had always thought light to be stupid,
Never stopping, always roaming hither thither.
What a being, I smirk.

The light doesn't seem to care,
where the drops of water are,
On my face, in my eyes,
or in the bright sky outside.
And, all of a sudden, I see a rainbow,
colors are so nice to look at.

I smile.
I finally realize,
Light is not at all stupid.
