Has nothing to exploit
But religion and nomeclature,
Faith and belief,
Old rigidity and olden ideas,

I do not understand,
Why to call Israel a foe,
Is Israel not good,
Why do they think it so?

Whoever punishes, judges on the basis
Of chastity or purity,
Chaste or unchaste character
Is but mistaken

Indian culture
Which came I not to understand,
Indian ethos, myth and mysticism,
Indian spirituality, religion and philosophy,

My heart beat it fast, palpitated
And throbbed
On seeing the Israeli girl soldier
So beautifully looking,

How had they kept before them the sample copies
Of the constitutions of some countries,
Their charters and laws written or unwritten
Aligning and assembling from the discussions

The stage had been set for the qawwali
