Brittany Arthur Poems

She's got a way of figuring me out, almost as if she is determined to.
She reads me like an open book that someone had left behind because they lost their interest after the first chapter.
You know; there are 6.5 billion people on this planet, and she's the one.
I don't know why I feel this way. Everything and everyone tells me it's so wrong.

She Came Along

She's got a way of figuring me out, almost as if she is determined to.
She reads me like an open book that someone had left behind because they lost their interest after the first chapter.
You know; there are 6.5 billion people on this planet, and she's the one.
I don't know why I feel this way. Everything and everyone tells me it's so wrong.
"Don't be Gay" "You'll go to hell, " Is the common thing to say.
I can't help it. For years I've been independent. Then she comes along.
She comes along and shows me what it feels like not only to be loved, but to be in love.
I'm only 17, but I can honestly say I've been through hell and back.
"How, " you say? "You're only 17, " you say?
I've been beaten and bruised, crushed and forgotten.
Raised giving raise, because my parents were never home.
Who else would take care of my brothers?
I took care of my brothers and me, as if I was the parent.
I was independent. I didn't need friends, or a soul mate.
I needed me.
But then she came along.
She came along like one of those stupid love songs that pretend you'll find a prince charming to come sweep you off your feet.
But in this case, it was my princess.
No slayed dragon or a donkey tagging along.
But a simple sweet girl, who's been here all along.
Her laugh and her eyes, makes me at peace.
Her smile, her hair, makes me loose it inside.
The way she treats me.
As if there was a purpose.
A purpose to keep me happy, a reason to keep going.
Because by now, without her, I wouldn't keep going.
She's a bit like me in certain little ways,
From mistakes to heart breaks,
To making life decisions.
It's hard.
It's hard to love someone, who can never love you back.
She would if she could,
But it's not as simple as that,
Once you say I love you,
Its hard to go back.
Back to independent,
Back to the start.
No love, no time,
Where heartbreaks won't exist.
Back to the beginning of this poem
Where it could happen again.
One simple little crush, with a heart break as the end.
