Words seem to flood through my mind
Filling spaces that were vacated long ago
Lapping against memories
Eroding my sanity

I struggle for the right words to say
To explain to you why I did this
I fight back unwanted emotions
That might give away what I can not resist

I aimlessly wonder around
Like a shadow of the forgotten
Not knowing the difference
Between tomorrow and yesterday

Focus the lens
On a subject
Worth taking

Expectations break her
Splintering love from self
Destroying the little girl
Smothering her self-esteem

The sun is smothered by lies
Dark heavy clouds of despair
Trees bend to my will
