Face Of A Stranger

All was dark as night, as a shadowy figure strode my way
Adrenaline pumped through my veins as I approached, dauntlessly
A beam of light revealed his skin as pale as the moon
As a devilish smirk curled itself across his twisted face
His eyes were black as coal with slits to match the scars on his wrists
He was hauntingly beautiful like a dream gone amiss
He copied my movements, fluidly and impeccably
And that’s when I felt a chill that might be the death of me
It sunk to my bones like a George Thorogood song
A realization that I should’ve known all along
I should have ran but I knew he’d pursue
Like a high-speed chase I knew I’d lose
There was no escaping this demon because he didn’t hide under my bed
He was the mastermind creeping inside of my head
He was everything I hated and every fear I didn’t want to see
Worst of all about him, was that he was me
