I am 15 years old and my name is Chelsea Alyssa Force. I live in Tucson, Arizona and attend Empire High School. I have been writing poetry since I was eight years old, even though it wasn't the best. I believe poetry is the freedom of speech that everyone desires and with it every person has a voice, no matter how small.)
Repeating Our Mistakes
Here in the 21st century
We live in complete ease
Never fully aware
Of all the mistakes we leave
An auto correct or a backspace
A little white out here and there
The errors that we always make
Are never ours to bear
But the World has no such luck
They can’t seem to get it right
We always in end up in the dark
No matter how hard we fight
Mistakes go back to Prehistoric age
Years before our time
We may not notice all the pain
Or record all of the crimes
The first mistake of the world
Was made by Adam and Eve
Ripping the fruit from the branch
And hiding themselves with leaves
God was angered by their ignorance
And punished them severely
The pain that the World must suffer
Is now stated clearly
The next mistake in history
Was made by dictator of Rome
Befriending conniving Brutus
And inviting him into his home
Forty-four B.C. was the day
Of his tragic death
The day the ruler Caesar took
His final, gasping breath
Stabbed ruthlessly 23 times
Drowning in his blood
The Empire taking over
Like an overwhelming flood
The year was 1934
When Hitler came to reign
Hinting to his dreadful plan
Before his plans were made
Yet America stood unaware
Of the tragedy at hand
Sitting back and going slack
As Nazis took a stand
Society has also made
Mistakes that cant be erased
It has ignored the desperate pleas
Of the dying human race
Rainforests are being destroyed
The Ozone is slowly depleting
None of us will be prepared
For the death that we’ll be greeting
If only we had listened
If only we had learned
If only we had stopped the world
From letting ourselves burn
Mistakes will overpower you
And trap you till your death
You’ll never think freely again
Not until your final breath
There is no way to stop it
It’s difficult to prepare
There is no need to dwell on it
Abandon all despair
Take matters into your own hands
And try not to give in
Believe that things could be better
Tomorrows just around the bend
