Chris RYS Poems

The rolling hills of green,
The mining spoils line the valley,
The children leave for school one last time,
They kiss their Ma´s goodbye.

As I step out of the car, the bitter coldness hits me like a wave,
A tranquil feeling rushes over me.

I miss thy touch
I miss thy smile
I miss thy smell
A gentle smell of lavender says your here

Aberfan Disaster

The rolling hills of green,
The mining spoils line the valley,
The children leave for school one last time,
They kiss their Ma´s goodbye.

The news says the spoils have fallen,
The village is drowned by coal,
The sun is shining bright,
On the darkest day of the Welsh valleys.

The school children are killed by the spoils,
116 kids are now in heaven,
Cries of Ma´s and Da´s can be heard all round,
They hid under tables to hide from the hell surrounding them,
But it was not enough.

The brave people of Aberfan fight to keep them alive,
Now they rest in peace,
Forever they will stay in the memories of the valleys.
