Victory, sweet victory!
A saint of purgatory
Came with temptation
In clever presentation
...

If I could hold my tongue,
Stop angry words from being flung,
Sharp insults from spewing out,
If I could go the gentler route,
...

We are not carpenters or masons.
We sit quietly, secluded, alone,
Building not with brick or stone,
But with wishes, fantasy, fact.

Daring Game

Victory, sweet victory!
A saint of purgatory
Came with temptation
In clever presentation
To crumple me,
Destroy me and thee.

In disguise he came,
Played a daring game,
Pretended to be Lord,
The one obeyed, adored.
With authority he spoke,
My response to evoke.

With no approval by Scripture,
Sign of Christ's signature,
The Christian's guide,
The plan, shied, untried, died.
Ever more scripture consult,
Sweet victory the result.
