Douglas Arlen Scribner Poems

There are six big parts to Daddy's heart,
Cheryl's one and she's my wife,
The one I choose to go through life.
And then there's John, my oldest son,
...

Did you se me Lord when I was small?
Did you hear me Lord when I would call?
Did you know right from the very start,
of good or bad in each man's heart?
...

Would you steal from my heart all that I have,
With desperate words of hope
If there is fault, it is I
If there is reason, it is mine

Daddy's Heart

There are six big parts to Daddy's heart,
Cheryl's one and she's my wife,
The one I choose to go through life.
And then there's John, my oldest son,
handsome and strong, and he's number one.
And then there's Bobby, next in line,
my eyes are his, and his are mine
And there's my Tony, so much love,
his eyes are blue as skies above.
And Dad's old Bam Bam, is what I say,
when me and Vince begin to play.
And after that it's Mara Christine,
her laughter fills my heart,
'Cause she has had me wrapped around
her finger from the start.
So when you read these words above,
You'll know you have a part,
'Cause there's a place for all of you
inside of Daddy's heart!
