Her halo glitters as snowflakes wink and glide on an invisible staircase
Parading downward in a solemn ancient procession

In a dark parking lot with key in hand
Evening tie dangling from a pocket
Once sharp and tucked, now in loose shoes.

No one remains to mourn their loss
If ever there were any then
I do not know, how can I know?
What laid them low so long ago.

An invisible buffet, a delicious thing
Swallows trace the darkening skies
Swooping after bugs unseen
Too small for human eyes

Perhaps her mind stirs like the sea
A victim of the madness
Un-moored she wishes to be free
From sorrow, pain and sadness

Upon my sill, my kitchen sill
The window to a westward view
Sits a memory of warmer days
Of summer closing for the season

As the party swirled around
The woods once familiar
Transported us to Baltic shores
Beyond our camp of revelry

If I wrote in clouds ten miles high
If I mastered the skies above you

Nature awaits and calls me home
Kneeling at the edge of the water
No creek, no river, no pond or lake
A hidden oasis fed by rain alone
