Elizabeth Jackson Poems

Welcome to our society filled with confusion
Where the truth is clouded by all the illusion
Teens are suicidal and depressed
Opinions are forgotten and repressed
...

Freedom cannot be meant to be passed
For freedom determines what cannot last
Freedom is taken day by day
Until our world is taken away
...

When I was younger,
There were voices in my head
That told me I shouldn't be alive
That I shouldn't have the chance
...

Many times, I pretend I'm okay
Smiling at friends so they go away
Maybe I'm two-faced, maybe I'm not
But my feelings and thoughts are all that I've got
...

The world has been corrupted with pain
Trying to get ahead, attempting to gain
We push others down, make them feel like they're less
Because, if they're not, we are powerless
...

Without a tear,
I would be happy.
Without a tear,
I would be normal.
...

Practice makes perfect,
That's what they say.
But can I be perfect,
In my own way?
...

Gray sky,
Quiet birds,
Hearts die,
Hateful words.
...

If I were ever happy,
It would certainly be a dream,
For I cry a tear every minute,
Though that's not how it seems.

Society

Welcome to our society filled with confusion
Where the truth is clouded by all the illusion
Teens are suicidal and depressed
Opinions are forgotten and repressed
A society where people judge and feel victimized
Criminals get away and love isn't legalized
Relationships are never respected
Hobbies and passions? Often rejected
Enjoy your stay where we're fueled with rage
Censored and limited upon any stage
Smiles turn to tears
Every day, facing your worst fears
This isn't the way it was meant to be
Corrupting our thoughts about everything free
The purpose of living, and being, and such
For some of us, it becomes too much
