Love Has Changed Poem by Elizabeth Jackson

Love Has Changed

The world has been corrupted with pain
Trying to get ahead, attempting to gain
We push others down, make them feel like they're less
Because, if they're not, we are powerless
Suffering dots every writers page
Which increases each time they age
The only way out is through meaningless sex
Or drugs, alcohol, things which I am perplexed
That still plague the four corners of the world
Where lust is creation, hearts are controlled
What ever happened to falling in love?
Do you feel like you are above
Relationships which are committed and true
What did love ever do to you?
What happened to writing letters and taking it slow?
Trust is a limit which you've fallen below
'No one has time' yeah, okay. sure.
That's just an excuse when you're immature.

Love can be exchanged for lust
Grinding out hearts and leaving them dust
Our lives are merely lived for the attention
Only some of us begin seeking redemption
People fear leaving home
Refuse to go out on their own
Don't want to be the one feeling alone
Still others try to run away
From problems when they should stay
And confront their problems which may
Or may not go away on their own
But why waste your 'time' on all you've known?
There's a world outside you cannot imagine
Problems with answers to find and examine
Don't be the one who stands in your way
And don't blame me if you regret it someday
