Elizabeth Yenny Poems

If my heart grows hard
you are the fractures.
Having you I'm weak,
without you I'm a mere brick.
...

Don't cry it over the flowery ground, baby
I'm here standing next to you.
If an embrace is what you need right now, honey
I'm sorry it's something I'm no longer able to do.

Fractures

If my heart grows hard
you are the fractures.
Having you I'm weak,
without you I'm a mere brick.
I'm the earth,
and you are the cracks
where my rivers flow
and my plants grow.
Without you I'm only an exact solid substance,
ordinary and distant,
strange and beaten.
You are every little break
my heart needs.
Loving you hurts.
Leaving you kills me much.
