i lay next to you in this warm bed where
only moments ago you and i cavorted to
quench an insatiable fire
you filled my needs and so did i, so i thought

inhaled in a profound and
consuming fashion
as if it will contain the gnawing pain
and once exhaled they will go away

i am not perfect, that is a given
i do not cry at funerals
i do not sing praises even when
everyone gushes

there is a voice within
longing to be heard
i need a vent for all that
my heart yearns

in between slumber
and conscious state
eyes half closed
mind still awake

up in the sky it flew
aiming for the sun
with nothing but courage
and a pair of wings
...

my one true friend is a canine
squeezed a few thousand pesos
from my tight budget just
to have him around
...

i always look
out for
those sweet
tiny

in the stillness
