Ethel K. Meyer-Johnson Poems

Lord, I always like to take a walk,
If it's only just a block or two
For when I go, I can always speak,
A word or two with you.
...

Stealing a second to collapse in my chair,
Famished for rest from everyday care,
Drawing the worn cloak of weariness around
to escape the rigors of stereo sound;
...

Soft sounds on my window pane,
Glimpses of silver streaks trickling down,
Freshness of heaven opening up,
Patters in puddles echoes its sound.

Lord I Need You So

Lord, I always like to take a walk,
If it's only just a block or two
For when I go, I can always speak,
A word or two with you.

I'll set aside a world of care,
And feel your presence and your love,
The very freshness of the air,
The peace that comes from heaven above.

The earth is yours, I feel so small,
I must not walk in vain,
Guide me Lord, so I won't fall,
Grant me strength to stand the strain.

Take my hand in your own hand,
Hold it tight and don't let go,
This walk with you means so much
There's times I need you so.
