Sands

So the sands trickle down
the narrow passage, so little left
that you see the other
end; for silence means nothing
to a heart that yearns -
whose language is
that which only the eyes write
on teardrops and half-open lids,
a music that ears couldn't hear,
a song birthed within a cage
over unheard cries of labor
through written poems
where no one but the poet knows
the paper is blank
but unspoken poems never lie
and the last grain of sand
may never fall down.
