Frances E. Tolson Poems

Before us spreads the green woodland
Above is the clear blue sky;
A fallen tree makes a comfy seat
For my two good friends and I.
...

Hold us in your hand, Lord,
Throughout the hours of night.
Forgive us our transgressions
And lead us to the light.
...

The planes were flying busily
As I ate lunch at the airport.
It seems to be so strange
That you're not up in the sport.

God's Day

Before us spreads the green woodland
Above is the clear blue sky;
A fallen tree makes a comfy seat
For my two good friends and I.

Music comes from the songs of birds
And the whir of an airplane's wings
While the tiny brook in it's stoney bed
Merrily sings and sings.

There is peace and quiet all around
And the colors of nature gay.
Till we feel that the hand of God Himself
Has created this restful day.
