Not much to report of in Hawkesdale last night
Even at the pub things did seem very quiet
No verbal disagreement that could lead to a fight
Though one man was heard singing in the moonlight,

The Worldwide human population has more than quadrupled since i was a boy
And these decades of affluence we well may enjoy
Yet due to pollution of land and of water and air
Signs of climate change are now seen everywhere
...

It is true that in Nature's wild kingdom the weak never do seem to thrive
And only the strongest and fittest are those that can hope to survive
And the Human World not that much different the gap between the haves and the have nots is growing ever wide
And things not improving in third World Countries where millions of hunger have died.
...

If we respect ourselves to others respect we will pay
And enough of self love it can take us some of the way
To understanding and loving others and harder we may try
Of even trying to get on with those with whom we don't see eye to eye
...

Have you ever suffered of low self esteem
And worried of how to others you do seem
And you even feel reluctant to walk down the street
And people you know you would rather not meet
...

A mother and grandmother near the end of her life
To an unworthy fellow she was a good wife
Without provocation her he often did beat
But at least she feels happy she is not on the street
...

Amongst wealth and fame there is great poverty
With such things should not happen here most would agree
A poor homeless bloke with only a mattress for a bed
On the embankment under a railway underpass for six months lay dead.

He's never been found wanting when put to the test
At laying pipes Mick Kelleher is Victoria's best
The drainage contractors of his value do know
He makes some good pipe layers seem rather slow.

In the gloam of the evening as darkness cloaks the sky
I hear him softly whistling on a gum tree nearby
He is the famed grey shrike thrush he has a lovely song
Once heard you cannot mistake him you can never get him wrong

Though eventually more than their match they do find
Down with every bully and those that way inclined
By their bully tactics they should not have their way
The karma they sow they too must reap one day.
