I feel for all of those thousands who in Coastal Asia died
And for the million made homeless their hopes and dreams destroyed
By that sea quake or tsunami that ripped through many a coastal Town
That flattened houses on it's path and in the huge wave thousands did drown.

I love a quiet place miles from the streets of human created noise
A sunlit place full of birdsong and beautiful butterflies
That flit about the wildering flowers all through the Summer day
I know of such a lovely spot two miles off of the highway.

After a few drinks in the evening with his pub mates in the bar
He brags about his new home and about his brand new car
And about his job promotion and his huge raise in pay
And they seem quite impressed with him boasting for some works okay.

Despite advanced medical technology people still age and die
And though people on an average live longer now one fact we can't deny
Is that the Reaper who claims every life will one day claim your's and mine
Each day we live we draw closer to our lives finish line.

Humankind has come far in technology so very far 'twould seem
Back in the nineteen fifties of such achievements we dared not dream
In this age of the computer Big Brother reigns supreme
To him we have become as visible as fish in a clear pool of a sunlit stream.

Do you stand for peace and justice do you stand for human rights
Or are you just one more dim ray in the World of lesser lights
When your pub mates are trash talking do you not say you are wrong?
It is easy to say nothing when it takes courage to be strong.

And of the great poetess Joyce Hemsley the praises we will sing
And with the maestro Sir John she is one to compare
A poet of the masses and poets like her are rare.

The wanderlust was in them and they moved from place to place
In their horse drawn gipsy caravans but they were a happy race
Of people for they had the gift of music and they had the gift of song
And to the dispossessed of Cromwell their ancestry belong.

'Tis sad to think that many with power abuse it those with power who abuse it weak not strong
There is nothing wrong with having power in the first place it is the abuse of it that is all wrong
For the abuse of power leads to serious crimes against the powerless though power in good hands it is quite okay
And good people with power never do abuse it they use it in the most constructive way
...

Enough of war from war there is no gain
Only injuries, bloodshed and death and pain
What we need is love and peace and harmony
Enough of war and it's tragic history,
