Memories Of The Aftermath

Brother will kill brothers,
Spilling blood across the land.
The guns firing,
The men tiring.
Noise from the marching band.

Justice is forgotten,
But we will always remember.
Soldiers charging,
Enemy enlarging.
Ordered to defend her.

Trickling into No-Mans Land,
The cowards and the brave alike.
Left for dead,
Dressing in red.
The final, devastating hike.

Strings attached to the puppets,
Being forced to play along.
You will die,
They don't lie.
But we must remain strong.

When the struggle was over,
We were left to thrive.
Bodies piling,
Germans heiling.
Knowing another would arrive...
