The Road

Daddy, ... where does this road go"
I'm not sure, son." I replied. "Would you like to find out?"
He smiled widely, his eyes sparkling in the bright, autumn sun.
Yeh!" He giggled, and began running down the unknown road.
Wait for me! I called. Be careful, don't fall. I began chasing after him.
Suddenly I stopped and stood to watch him.
He's okay, he'll be find. I thought as I felt my eyes begin to well up.
I have to give him room. Enough space to grow, to become whoever he will.
I began walking, staying close enough to be of help, but far enough back so as to not interfere.
Allowing him the opportunity to explore the many wondrous adventures on this road ... the road of his choice.
