Humphrey Bryant Poems

Watch how they wag and sag
Their enticing breasts in the atmosphere,
Swaying under branches like flag.
Sprinkling in the atmosphere.
...

They say we live
Like there is no tomorrow
They say tomorrow never comes
They say tomorrow keeps running
...

They said -
Someone said -
They heard it
While whistling by,
...

Watch how the moon freezes the sky
How tiny stars
Of bright sequin flood the sky
Piercing on its face a tribal scar
...

Little Luci
Unlike every other kid
Came to this world with his leg first
Looking little; an unravel cupid
...

Odiodi!
That's what they call you
I've heard that name before
I've never known you

Blackberry And Apple

Watch how they wag and sag
Their enticing breasts in the atmosphere,
Swaying under branches like flag.
Sprinkling in the atmosphere.

They no longer sit under trees
Talking about the morning breeze
But on our ears and palms
Reciting wrong psalms.

Like television
They've stolen our cubs and calves
Rendering a mist vision
Confiscating the better halves.

See how Adam and Eve
Wriggle palm oil from neck they weave
Just to purchase them
Littering the earth with this new totem.

The earth was more merry
When apple and blackberry
Were mere fruits
That didn't transform men to brutes.
