A Chance Denied

Whenever somebody speaks of a second chance my heart sinks
Because of the fact that I did not even get the first chance
I tried once, twice and even trice……all I had to do was to rely on my patience.
It all started with her smile that seemed to be an incense,
Because I seemed to be losing it at that instance
A chance that would mean a dream come true was denied
Friends trying to tell me to give up but I tried
Minutes, hours, days, weeks, and months went by but I kept holding on
For the chance was worth holding on
Every second of the day I would cry
Just to be given a try
Because you know what they say- - “its s worth a try”
Maybe she was afraid that her heart would tear
Because whenever looked into her eyes she would share a tear
Not knowing that when she is near
I also fear
If she would give me that chance I would say goodbye sorrow
And tell myself not to cry no more
And never think of tomorrow
Because that would bring me sorrow
A chance, that’s all I was asking for
Love, all I was looking for
And happiness, all i was hoping to get
