Irene Cisneros Biography

I'm seventeen years old. I write poetry to express myself. I also write poems based on other people's emotions and what I observe around school. I am a senior in high school and three of my best poems: Never Leave Me, Understand Me, and Say You Love Me are being published in the book 'Whispers: A collection of short works. The poem Understand Me was written in 2006, as I was a sixth grader. I wrote it because my brother that is a year and half younger then me has Autism. I was trying to put myself in his place. I thought really hard and I pretend I couldn't express myself like you and me and expressed myself through writing. My father is in the Army. I go through alot worrying everyday that my family be safe. I created a profile here just months before my mother passed away. After she left my world shattered and started falling apart. She was the building blocks to my future. I knew someday i'd had to let her go but never thought this soon. i became more dedicated in writing poems after that because i have so much to say in so many words. writing poetry made me stronger and I wish someday that I could publish a book that has a moral; To tell people to love life and treat everyday like there's no tomorrow. To thank the the Lord that you're healthy and that some people out there have worse difficulties than you.)

I'M Just Like You

look me in the eye and say you still care
that you'll never leave me
and you'll always be there
that you didn't mean to yell
and cause a stupid fight
that you didn't mean to leave me up
crying in bed all night
that you didn't mean to lie to my face
and say everything'll get better
and to stop all the sobbing for this day i'll never remember
that you didn't mean to leave me standing in the rain
to watch you walk off and endure all this pain.
i never thought i'd say this but you made me so glad
you lift the stress off my chest and now i'm not that sad.
i hate the way you left after walking in my life,
to make me fall in love
and think everything's alright
you're so stupid to make me believe that you could be the one
but you gave me a test with an beginning not an end
officially i'm done.
i'm stupid that i took you in
that i confided in you
that i wrapped my world around your finger
and watched all the things you do
that i gave my heart for a guy with nothing
but pity and a lost soul
that i stayed around enough to see
your childish fairytales be told
there is much to be said for a poem with no end
but i was stupid
because i'm just like you
