James Carson Poems

One day my mother was sleepily rocking,
and combing her auburn hair.
When I asked her what was so comfortable
about a rocking chair.
...

When I was just a little boy,
maybe four or three.
I had a friend, I think he was
his name was Somebody.
...

I gaze into the future and wonder day by day,
the living in the future exactly what will they say.

About the world in our day, with all the suffering and hate,
...

On day I was praying, 'dear Lord forgive me.
I sin everyday but I try to follow the way.

Then I heard the Master say, 'I am the Truth, the Light and the way'.

Rocking Chair

One day my mother was sleepily rocking,
and combing her auburn hair.
When I asked her what was so comfortable
about a rocking chair.

She said 'son I will tell you,
but you cannot tell a soul.
She said 'when your mind is troubled
with thoughts that burden you,
just sit down in a rocker,
and rock some thoughts anew.

And when your rocking is over
its funny but its true,
those thoughts that you were worried about,
don't really burden you.
Now don't think its just a woman thing
cause men have burden's to.

I have always remembered,
just what my mother said.
About the troubled thoughts
that often fill our heads.

Now my wife wants a rocker,
her troubles right now are just a few.
Mine are not overwhelming,
but maybe I'll get two.
