A Dream Of You

Rays of morning sunlight meander meekly through the open window,
Creeps into the whitewashed bedroom, and bathes my skin in warmth
As the sun rises, its mild lights’ deft heat touches my eyelids, and
Opens them gently, your spiraled, waved, and golden hair glistens
As bright as the illuminating light that is cast upon it, your bare shoulders
Contour emphasized by the shadows and lighted parts of your velvet skin
Your slender arms tightly wrapped around a bulging pillow where your soft
Tiny hands grasp onto it, like they are my heart, as it melts submissively into
Your grip my hands carefully remove a strand of your divine hair from your long,
Flickering eyelashes, then remove the cloud-like blankets from my body and
Get up; there are buckets and tubes of paint, pallets and pales of brushes,
But no easel, no canvas, just pure white, I look back at you in wonder
Your chest rises slowly, then gently falls back down
I can hear you breathing and want nothing more
Than to wake you, but I don’t dare disturb you
I move back to the bed and slip under the clouds
Suddenly, the white fades to black, and then, I wake up, roll over
Slowly, and look at the empty space on my bed where you should be.
