I stand in the last patch of sunlight
and I glean the last rays of the sun.
The scents of the flowers waft o'er me,
as though they and the sunrays are one.

Within our veins, our life-blood’s hidden lair,
But naught but death can give it that repose

that I call my fantasy
and whatever I want, as I look through
is exactly what I'll see.

I wandered, once, through the universe
With never a thought or care,
For fortune smiled on my every turn
And I had no load to bear.

I walked a path that climbed
through autumn's leaf strewn bed
along a hill.
The wind moaned through the trees

Here sit I now, as love transcends,
and fate conspires to make amends
for those transgressions of the past,
when toil came first and love came last.
