Everything Dies

Everything dies I suppose,
An inevitable end to the path we chose,
Regardless of it's direction.

Sometimes effortless, uncomplicated and smooth,
Sometimes it's unbearable, and impossible to move.
But it's not the path that determines the conclusion,
That my friend, is just an illusion.
To look ahead with serene eyes,
You will realise,
Everything dies.

Loved ones,
They age,
And hate, love, anger, and fear,
It all fades,
In time.
Time is what it all comes down to really.
How long you have,
Or how long you can stand.
No matter who touches you along the way,
Or who remains to hold your hand.
Who walks their path still,
And memories of those who have already left this land.
Everyone,
And everything, dies.

Every feeling, and possible emotion,
From loathing, to devotion.
As scarring, or enlightening,
As cheering, or frightening,
In time, it dies.

I was once like you,
Dismissing the thought of a 'fate',
Believing choice and consequence true,
But from all I have seen, and learnt from this world,
Does it really matter what I do?
The higher you go,
The further you can fall,
So, in the end,
Is it even worth the climb at all?

Am I bitter?
No, I am comfortably numb,
I no longer care about what you do,
Or dwell on what I have done,
To myself, or you,
Because in my eyes,
Everything dies.

Never again will I savour or yearn,
I will sit patiently,
And wait my turn.
