Doubt

i told you there was a god,
how he was watching over us all,
sitting to the left of the holy spirit
and to the right of his only son.

thought it would keep you from
doing all the things in life
that would cause you harm,

but three boys died yesterday,
trying to stop the violence in
the burning city of london,
and metaphorically speaking,
the devil walks the earth
and i have seen him shackled,
or walking the elusive streets,
or ordering entire villages to burn.

one-hundred thousand women,
men, and children’s lives have
been sacrificed because a president
cannot end the everlasting wars.

haley is suffering and so are
thousands of other children,

and no god would let them.

there is no god.
there is no santa.
we have only ourselves to blame or cherish.
