The shelf has been set up too high

be it from celestial beings
seraphs, epistles
even to these raging seas

Your words come on to me
And I am turned defenseless
These thick jackets
And persistent pillows
...

Wasting away a little more of these breaths
When the mornings finally decide to stay
Just hold on a little longer as I sweep away
The million little lies that clouded the night
...

Persistent violin strings
Tug on a memory or two
The weather plays along
The leaves tickle my feet

I can’t keep with the trail
Of her effervescent spoor;
Star-shine and moon dust
Pleasant are the petals of her hair
