She was too shabby but enticing;
Her claws would kill her
Wanting to lay just one scratch
Upon my alert, pink skin

Was it a whimper, a scolding or a mourn?
There was a movement in the bushes
I saw fierce eyes, as it crawled, snarled.
I backed away, pulling my bag close

Notice how I’m drawing my footsteps
outside your door, in case you wonder
where it is I might head.

Your scares gave you character
But they shoved you into a tray
Along with all the careless breathers
Even if you were meant for so much more
