Jessica Carlson Poems

I'm told that I have so much to be
thankful for,
but when I look at my life,
what I see is a broken picture frame.
...

So just feel,
lets ignore the barriers,
because I’ll be yours,
all yours,
...

I know I don’t believe in love,
but can’t we just spend one night,
making love and sleeping in each others arms?
Because that feeling that I get
...

I'm tired of looking
And not being able to touch you
I have that bad habit
So sad,
...

I wish that I could move on
It wouldn't cause so much pain
Manipulated by the system
I don't want to die like them
...

I'm just a girl in a cruel world
But I need things too
There's times I'm going to need your hand
And there's times I'm goin got need so much more
...

The colors of my life
Just fade blissfully away
Like I'd never met him
Like I'd never loved him
...

I can't control the anger
Which lies so close to the surface
Yes it hurts
Yes I am still here
...

Your friends make me so mad,
they're the reason I left you.
They're the reason that we fell apart.
When they caused problems
...

Jessica Carlson Biography

I never really understood poetry until a girl online straightened me out. Plus I had no one to talk to, that would ever understand me. I needed to release somehow and its my way of release. That way I don't release on some idiot who probably deserves it anyways.)

Broken Picture Frame

I'm told that I have so much to be
thankful for,
but when I look at my life,
what I see is a broken picture frame.

Love is so confusing,
you broke my paper heart.
So now I have no reason but
to tear my life apart.
Because without you in it,
it just isn't worth a start.

I can't believe I trusted you.
Where do I begin?
You left me hallow and empty
like a newborn virgin.

How can I grow when you put me down?
How did you let me get so low?

Jessica you are letting your feelings show. Thats wonderful. You are only 15 years old and in time, if you enjoy poetry as much as the people on this site do, you will learn skills that show you how to express yourself in different ways. Read as much poetry as you can and then you will see what I mean. You will get ideas of expressing all the great stuff you write. Then you will be able to put it into better poetic form. Keep it up. You will be a great poet if you take advice and use what is given Hugs Jan

You obviously have a lot of emotion. But writing your emotions down doesn't automatically make them poetry, or rather it doesn't necessarily make them good poetry. The emotions you convey are similar to what many many people experience. So I would try to convey them in some unusual or non-typical way. That way you get readers to see things differently from their own emotional experience and what moves readers is relating to the emotion but seeing it conveyed in a somewhat different and more interesting light than what they typically experience. Make sense? Anyway, it's just my two cents.
