Jiggi Gwari Poems

He sees a long walk up ahead,
but his conscience is heavy with dread,
not because of the path that needs to be stepped,
but because of the secret he has kept.

This poem of mine is one of my first experiments with blank verse:

Neither me or my existence matters,
in this world of materialism.
...

You see him walking down the street in a jovial gait,
sometimes looking at the creation in a seemingly eternal wait.
Few can discern what he says about the unknown,
many call it mindless blather but his musings are his own.

His Curse

He sees a long walk up ahead,
but his conscience is heavy with dread,
not because of the path that needs to be stepped,
but because of the secret he has kept.

A secret he tries hard to suppress,
but it still looms large over his conscience,
a broken will he tries hard to caress,
but it goes on to add to an already dark ambiance.

Its a curse only his to bear.
A curse of his own making.
A curse he rather die with than share.
A curse that is soul-breaking.

The curse to walk alone on the path ahead.
The curse to take the journey filled with dread.
The curse to never have someone to share his pain.
The curse to find his destination but make the all-important journey in vain.

So, he tries to forget his curse.
Wishing that hope lights his way.
Hoping that this light will find someone.
Someone who can dispel the curse,
so finally rest in peace he may.
