Hear us in heaven, thy dwelling-place,
And when Thou hearest, O! forgive.

Yes! soon away shall death's deep slumbers roll,
And thou wilt wake, my soul!
And He who fashioned thee
Shall build thee mansions for eternity.

Watchman! tell us of the night,
What its signs of promise are:
Traveller! o'er yon mountain's height
See that glory-beaming star!

Let Thy servant now depart;
Every doubt and fear is stilled,
