Lost

I have lost my sense of belonging,
My pride is on the fall.
I'm weary from this race I'm running;
to which I see no end at all.

Forsaken by Love, abused by trust,
Mistaken to be true, but was only Lust.
heartbroken and lonely, warn nights now cold,
The warmth has risen, gone is that stronghold.

Memories of bliss haunt every thought and dream,
My mind is now a wonder, of days so cruel and mean.
Tears only fall in the gloom of the night,
replaced by a smile at the peak of the sun's light.

But deep inside the heart and mind,
The trace of a smile nowhere you find.
For in the day it taunts my head,
And lies with me as I go to bed.
