Leonard Masauli Biography

Born on 29 November 1985, went to primary school and later selected to secondary school where i did classes 1 up to four, and then studied Journalism at Malawi Institute of Journalism. Whilst at secondary school, passion to write and recite poems grew and it become an order of the day. Today, i have published several poems in Malawi's giant newspapers as well as to other media sites. My vision is to get a scholarship to study poetry and be able to teach and inspire young people in poetry.)

The Villager

THE VILLAGER


The time has come
Where the poverty stricken Villagers
Are Crowned Kings and Queens
Of the unknown Kingdom,
The period is indeed over!
Of Winning and Dinning
At the expense of a poor Villager
Whilst he lags in extreme poverty

With a Bunch of Bananas on the head
Walking 10 miles to a market
Crossing on unabridged rivers
Of no hope for a better life,
But on empty promises we smiled
As we danced in the dust
With Ululations from the crooked women
While you dish out money as your manifesto

We really got convinced
That you had our welfare at heart
And finally you got our trust
Alas! We still drink from muddy waters
We still are hitting the bad roads
Only the coffins when we die
Cannot make us forget the hassles
See you again in the Ballot Box
