To rear the claws of bitter death

Don't go burning down the bridges
That we've built ‘tween me and you
Just leave a little wiggle room
Cause believe me, we're not through

While I tiptoe across the notes
Caress the lines, the muse once wrote
I stroke the petals of a rose
Three lines above its final close
...

Today our hearts went still
We went completely numb
Knowing we've still to face
The pain that's yet to come

I will not go gentle
As many ‘tempt to do
Nor in screaming hardship
My spirit dark with rue
