Louisa Lochrue Poems

If I could have one prayer answered tonight, let it this be
Dear God: Don’t let me lose this moment of clarity
In which everything is laid bare – his soul naked and ugly
And the lies are transparent: truth is easy to see
...

I am a soldier
Bleeding red, white and blue
I fight alongside the rest
The best
...

Fear of the unknown has numbed me
Too paralyzed to speak
To reach
To span the chasm that divides us
...

Say whatever you want
Or say nothing at all
Just be here close to me
That's all I need.
...

I have a dream, a fantasy, that I keep hidden down deep.
I want to run, completely free, till my feet will no longer carry me.
Leave my phone, my job, my life.
Just up and leave it all behind.

Don’t look at me, just leave me be, I always knew this was how it’d end.

You think your so great, then go back to your fan club, but don’t you dare try to touch me.

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

If I could have one prayer answered tonight, let it this be
Dear God: Don’t let me lose this moment of clarity
In which everything is laid bare – his soul naked and ugly
And the lies are transparent: truth is easy to see

Don’t let the caul slip back over my face
Don’t let these blue eyes become once more gauzy and gray
Don’t let me return to believing in fairy tales, this I pray
Dear God: Don’t let me again be a fool, when this Light fades away.
